2015–2021: The Onset and a Long Road to Diagnosis

Tayyaba's health challenges first began in 2015 with the gradual onset of symptoms that pointed toward kidney distress. Over the next six years, she and her family embarked on a difficult journey, consulting with numerous doctors and exploring a wide array of treatments and remedies. During this period, the primary goal was to manage the symptoms and slow the progression of what was then an undiagnosed underlying condition. Despite trying various medications and therapeutic approaches, none proved effective in providing a long-term solution. The disease continued to advance, and it wasn't until late 2021 that a definitive diagnosis was finally established, setting the stage for a more targeted, but increasingly urgent, course of action.

2022: Definitive Diagnosis and Aggressive Treatment

In March-April 2022, a kidney biopsy was performed to re-evaluate her condition. The results confirmed a diagnosis of Membranoproliferative Glomerulonephritis (MPGN), showing significant inflammation, scarring, and immune complex deposits in the kidneys.

A September 2022 consultation reveals that she continued to suffer from Nephrotic Range Proteinuria (a severe leakage of protein in the urine, measured at 5.6g). The report also documents a long history of treatment failures since 2015, including medications like cyclosporin, rituximab, and inograf (tacrolimus). Due to these past failures and a recent miscarriage, a new treatment plan was formulated to start injections of Cyclophosphamide, a potent immunosuppressant.

2023: Worsening Condition and Systemic Complications

The lab reports from May and June 2023 indicate a significant worsening of Tayyaba's overall condition, with multiple systemic complications arising from her uncontrolled kidney disease.

Testing confirmed that she continued to suffer from severe Nephrotic Syndrome, with a Urine Protein/Creatinine Ratio of 5.34, showing massive protein loss through her kidneys. This led to critically low protein levels in her blood, particularly Albumin, which dropped to 2.7 g/dL.

Furthermore, new and serious health issues were identified: Severe Anemia (Her hemoglobin was dangerously low at 7.9 g/dL) and Impaired Glucose Tolerance (A glucose tolerance test showed abnormally high blood sugar levels, indicating the development of diabetes).

In summary, 2023 was a year marked by the progression of her illness, with monitoring revealing not just the failure to control the kidney disease but also the development of severe, secondary health complications.

2024: Physical Evidence of Irreversible Damage

An Ultrasound of the Kidneys, Ureters, and Bladder (KUB) performed in August 2024 provided direct visual evidence of the disease's physical progression and significant, irreversible damage to the kidneys.

The radiologist's impression confirmed bilateral renal parenchymal disease, grading the damage as Grade-I on the right kidney and a more severe Grade-II on the left. Most critically, the scan revealed cystic areas in the left kidney that were highly suspected to be areas of necrosis (tissue death).

This finding physically demonstrates the severe deterioration of the kidney structures after years of the disease.
